Australian designs with a global conscience
We understand the Australian climate. That’s why our ethical clothing is crafted from high-quality cotton and other natural fibres that move with the body and allow it to breathe.
Our passion for ethical garment design doesn’t end here in Australia. Rasaleela have worked closely with the same family-run manufacturing businesses in India for the last 12 years or so. We source soft, quality Indian cotton and other natural fibres and have ensured since the beginnings that the garment manufacturers provide safe, flexible, respectful and sustainable working conditions.
We know that these conditions are upheld to this day, since we spend 6 weeks a year, across 2 seasons (3 weeks per visit, twice a year). Working daily in the factory with staff on all levels: master tailors, garment makers, packing staff members and production managers. The staff with whom we work closely on each new collection are amongst the highest paid in the region, have the flexibility to regularly take time off for family events and national cultural celebrations. We have been working with some of the individual staff members for so long that we are regularly invited to their weddings and other major family events.
These long term relationships matter to us and we value the fact that we know this from 1st hand experience, rather than relying on inspectors that visit factories (that their off-shore clients have never seen) once a year with prior notice given to the owners. Our assertion on fair working conditions is based on witnessed experience because we spend some much time in the factories collaborating with our manufacturer’s team members.
Rasaleela has been a long term financial supporter of the Fior Di Loto Foundation in India. In addition to the annual donations to the foundation, we also sponsor long term, the education of several young girls cared for by Fior Di Loto.
